UnPollute

Forward to the Zero Emissions Future

My Unpollute Bill is a key solution to climate change and other worldly issues. But now rewritten as a overall charter, I can use it as a template to move along through my business plan.

Locally, I plan to start "UnpollutePDX," a business (non-profit ideally) that supplies people on my list with large gift cards for their local bike shop, or bike shop of choice, since I may be
able to ask for discounts to promote certain shops or items or for bike shops to offer discounts on great packages or for those who donate (hmmm, donate a car...) to the cause. I may start off with just one Card, mine, and I'll go with people (by appointment) and pay for what I can with Unpollute funds, up to what I am thinking is a great starting limit: $500.

Maybe next week I can get out to this community BIKING town meeting with my local government reps:

From Ben Cannon's Email Update:

Bike Town Hall - Sunday, September 19th - 1:00-3:00pm

Senator Jackie Dingfelder, Representative Michael Dembrow, and I [State Rep. Ben Cannon] will hold a bike town hall. We will meet at 1:00pm at Normandale Park (NE Halsey and 56th). Then, we will head out for an adventure including visits to one of the newly improved bike boulevards, the community garden at Vestal Elementary School, and Cafe au Play and Tabor Commons. We will finish our ride with coffee and snacks at the New Deal Cafe at 5250 NE Halsey. This will be a moderate-paced, mostly flat ride of approximately 8 miles. Awhile back, I shared this fantastic article about the last bike town hall Senator Dingfelder and Representative Dembrow put together. Hopefully, it inspires you to join us!

--------------------------------------------------------------

Can't beat bikes and other bike-like light vehicles for pollution-free transportation, so that's the starting point for me and UnpollutePDX... This really is a biking Utopia. So, honestly, I'm looking for a few personal answers: If you have a bike, how much money will it take to get you fixed-up, ready and rolling, or upgraded? How much for a new one that you'd be excited to ride around on, including commute gear?

Ok, community, I really need your input! Is the $500 enough or too much? $250 might do the trick for most needs, and might therefore spread the love. But I want people to get what they really want and need so as to feel like going for a ride when it time to get the groceries or to pick up the kids or to head off to work.

Unpollute

The Unpollute Charter and my Highest Aspiration: to get cleaner air by giving you money to enable nonpolluting modes of transport and sustenance. Carbon offset credits to the people... that's the idea I call Unpollute!
