UnPollute

Forward to the Zero Emissions Future

CarbonFree Blog

http://www.carbonfund.org has motivated me to blog again. For the "price" of me posting a blog with a link, that is "free!" they are offering to fund an offset project enough to offset my blog for a year! I like the Truck Stop Electrification Project and all the re-forestation projects that they are offering to fund.

Next Up, Looking for a grant...

Even though I think Unpollute can completely run off funds from direct donations and Carbon Offset donations through third party providers (Like ClimatePath.org and Carbonfund.org) and "Carbon
Credits" from the still non-existent Carbon Market,* I need a little cash to get the ball rolling. Cash to set it up, and prove that this qualifies for those donations and credit funds, maybe to advertise a bit... I'll have to have the project ready to go, and with some scientific proof of the additionality of the project. There could be some argument that people will bike more without Unpollute anyway, and that's where the additionality (of Carbon pollution reduction) fits in. Me just saying that it's a no-brainer doesn't qualify as scientific proof, darn it.

Sounds like some actual hard work! This link is to one of the best fitting grant offers I've found to date:

Once again, thanks to Carbonfund.org for their work and their great offer! Here's to hoping for the best.

* Carbon exchange credits = companies pay "a fee" to be allowed to emit more than a certain limit -- still being argued over -- per year. Those fees will have to go to funding conservation projects and others that will lower CO2 emissions or remove CO2 from the atmosphere. Likely the fees will collect in a government pool before being redirected. The United State has no law creating this market or setting the price for a "ton of CO2." Hopefully the price will reflect the true cost of the pollution, or an equivalent price related to the cost of removing it from the atmosphere.

Unpollute

The Unpollute Charter and my Highest Aspiration: to get cleaner air by giving you money to enable nonpolluting modes of transport and sustenance. Carbon offset credits to the people... that's the idea I call Unpollute!
