Forward to the Zero Emissions Future
Sorry Natural Gas, you Leak. Here's a good article about hydraulic fracturing to get started. New York Times, Gangplank to a warm future.
"We have renewable wind, water, solar and energy-efficiency technology options now. We can scale these quickly and affordably, creating economic growth, jobs and a truly clean energy future to address climate change. Political will is the missing ingredient. Meaningful carbon reduction is impossible so long as the fossil fuel industry is allowed so much influence over our energy policies and regulatory agencies. Policy makers need to listen to the voices of independent scientists while there is still time."

In a way it's unfortunate that the Natural Gas option is not greener, because the school buses at my daughter's elementary were switched to natural gas last year and they were so much more pleasant to be around and in and the drivers liked them a lot and turned off their engines instead of idling diesel engines for 10 minutes everyday in front of the school. Nice run-on sentance there... sorry. Anyway, fracking is not going so well. Gangplank = Divingboard to doom.
Stories from family who recently revisited North Dakota were all about how shocked they were at the mess and flares everywhere.
