Forward to the Zero Emissions Future
Probably, nobody's terribly surprised by a recent study linking pesticide exposure to autism. "Hmmm, being around poisons might be bad for my unborn child or baby" would be a pretty normal thought. I'm sure the more we learn and study the more risks we'll uncover. Blanketing an area with poison to increase food yield doesn't sound much like a logical concept. The toxins used by plants and animals to defend and eat are never used for attempted regional genocide against all competition for a food source, which is what this "modern" agricultural technique boils down too. That behavior is quite illegal in any system of Logical, Moral, or Natural law, and there is consequence. Great consequence.
We're exposed through the air we breath (think spraying season), contact with sprayed plants (don't play with those non-organic cut flowers), and our food. In many cases it just doesn't wash off.
The easy way out is Organic farming. Cultivate life, life for food, life to fight the pests, life to create soil and increase diversity. Life can bring more life, hold moisture, filter water, produce Oxygen, regulate complex food-chains, and so much more. Getting life to just die is not a very magical trick, nor as useful or risk-free as the chemical and commerical farming industry would like us all to believe.
