UnPollute

Forward to the Zero Emissions Future

Oregonwind produces what appears to me to be a highly ideal wind power turbine set-up. Just using the abundant, free, and local source of energy (wind) is more important than achieving the highest of all possible out-put and performance. It's free energy, let's just grab at some of it...
I remember dreaming about having a design like these installed on telephone pole tops throughout the city, but only if it's very bird friendly, and I imagine that they are Oregonwind has the "The Oregon Wind HE-100 Wind/Solar Hybrid Streetlight," so it really seems that they have the same idea.
Their website is nice, just don't miss the FAQ page... they're making these out of locally recycled materials!

This video from TED shows a new good idea. Giant Kite Turbines, a TED talk by Saul Griffith...

I like the idea, and the constant pull of the wind is a fantastic power source for electricity generation, or perhaps more storable forms like compressed air, or mabe even doing the work that the electricity is needed for in the first place (i.e. pumping water, and of course, pulling things. But multi-megawatt, bird-friendly, clean power stations sure sound good to me!

Aerotecture International. These bird-friendly, city-friendly designs can be mounted vertically or horizontally. Impressive!

Small is smart, free abundance is a superior resource to mega size, it's even more important than max efficiency!

Please don't let "long return on investment" sway another argument against improving energy generation and storage verses fossil fuels or any burning, because one can start saving resources - and money on monthly bills - immediately.  The world doesn't need money, but money needs the world... one is real and forever, the other is a convention some humans thought up, a powerful meme if you will...

I've long been dreaming of flopping ratchet trick (like on a pendulum) to make a sail-like wind power device.  Small as leaves, big as a house... or check this out:
